The Norwegian telecom adventure Com4 has this last year had a revenue growth of nearly 175 percent. Now the company’s founders have recruited Telenor’s former product and marketing director Stein André Larner to bring the company to other new heights.
Increasingly more companies are starting to utilize machine-to-machine technology- also known as Internet of Things. Businesses have seen how connecting their products to the Internet can simplify and streamline. Everything from connected rat traps, water measurement and automation to invisible fencing for livestock. The highest growth is still within automatic meter reading (AMR) where Com4 has shown that they can take the fight to the larger telecom companies.
Stein André Larner is now placed at the helm, to secure a sturdy course ahead. He says he’s been tracking Com4 since the company it saw the light of day and is impressed by what they have achieved in a relatively short time.
This last year Com4 has shown that they can compete with the big guys and established a strong foothold by winning big and strategically important contracts with their partners, such as Rejlers Embriq and Atea. We are the only player in the business that specialises in communication between machines. We can deliver customised solutions you won´t find on the shelf, he says.
Roaming in 55 countries
Com4 is simply explained a virtual telecom operator which specialises in exclusively providing subscriptions for machines. The mobile network is leased from Telia in Norway. Com4 built its own core network. In addition, the company has entered a direct roaming agreement with mobile operators in 55 countries. Com4 has this last year shown that they have a competitive product portfolio and a solid ability to deliver.
The machine-to-machine communication marked is rapidly growing, and Norway is per usual fare ahead in the development. A long line of companies has already started using this technology and other are following seeing how it reduces cost, increases efficiency and provide them with the opportunity to offer better services to their customers. I look forward to continuing the solid work that has already been done by Com4, says Stein André Larner.
