After five years of development, the company’s flagship product – a smart medication dispenser with integrated dosing system – is already in use in dozens of municipalities, and will soon be deployed in Oslo.

Challenges

Medication is among the most resource-intensive tasks in healthcare. Manual pill organizers, based on concepts from the 1970s, are still widely used. The risk of errors is high, and few solutions support the full value chain from prescription to intake. Half of all medications are not taken correctly. The logistics around preparation and delivery are time-consuming, costly, and error-prone. In home care alone, nearly 3 million visits are made each week – many just to handle pill dispensing and correction.

Technology available today often delivers a poor user experience for both patients and
professionals. Devices tend to look like “medical gadgets” instead of everyday tools designed for people.

MedThings has created a complete and user-friendly digital medication system – with eSIM connectivity at its core:

Digitally tagged cassettes: Uniquely linked to each patient and centrally packed.

Mobili has been reduced to a single clear button and a subtle light signal. When the user presses the button to confirm they want their medicine, the dose drops directly into the cup.

The system is designed for efficient workflows, fast onboarding, and seamless integration. The interface is so intuitive that both elderly users and young children can operate it. Everything is remotely controlled, and updates to medication plans can be made in seconds.
