The Com4 IoT platform gives you:
- Full SIM lifecycle control.
- API access for automation and integration.
- Live diagnostics and real-time analytics.
How GPS Trackers with SIMs Work
GPS devices use satellite signals to determine location. With a Com4 SIM, this data is instantly transmitted over the cellular network to a cloud app or platform—enabling real-time tracking and alerts, unlike GPS loggers that store data locally.
Accuracy Factors:
-
Satellite visibility (sky openness).
-
Cellular coverage quality.
-
Hardware (GPS chip and antenna quality).
Under optimal conditions, Com4-connected GPS trackers achieve 2–5 meter accuracy—ideal for use cases ranging from child safety to high-value asset tracking.
Choosing the Right IoT SIM for GPS Trackers
Before deploying your solution, ask:
- Does the SIM support multi-network global coverage?
- Are data plans optimized for low monthly GPS usage (1–10MB)?
- Is there 24/7 technical support and platform visibility?
- Are all necessary networks supported (2G–5G, NB-IoT, LTE-M, satellite)?

Customer Success Story: Beehive – Smart Safety for Children on the Move
More time for play and learning for the little ones. More robust security when the kindergarten is on a trip. Less stress for the kindergarten staff.
This is the entrepreneurial story of how Beehive, a Norwegian startup, is using IoT and GPS tracker SIM cards from Com4 to make life safer and less stressful for children, parents, and kindergarten employees.
About Beehive
The Beehive Project is the business idea of Christian Johannessen, who envisioned a GPS-based safety solution for kindergartens even before studying marketing. Launched in 2019 with support from Innovation Norway, Beehive equips high-visibility vests worn by children with a GPS tracking sensor connected via Com4 IoT SIM cards.
Challenges in Early Childhood Education
In Norway, kindergartens are critical to gender equality and early learning. Most children aged 1–6 attend kindergarten daily, and excursions outside school grounds are common. These outings, however, present challenges: constant headcounts, high staff responsibility, and increased stress levels. Additionally, the sector faces recruitment difficulties due to the high workload and responsibility.
The Beehive Solution: GPS Vests with Com4 Connectivity
Beehive’s innovation integrates a GPS sensor into the children’s vests. As soon as the vests are taken off their hooks, the movement of each child can be tracked in real-time via the Beehive app. Using Com4’s GPS tracker SIM cards, the solution transmits location data securely and reliably. Staff can set up virtual fences—fixed or dynamic (e.g., 30 meters around the group leader)—and receive alerts if a child strays.
Results: Peace of Mind and Time for What Matters
Beehive’s GPS solution enables faster child counts, increased confidence in the children’s whereabouts, and reduces the emotional toll on staff. The result? More time spent on interaction and play rather than constant supervision. Parents gain peace of mind knowing their children are safer and better cared for during outdoor activities.
